Somerville Campus
Founders Memorial Rink – 570 Somerville Ave, Somerville, MA
Founders Memorial Rink offers parking, snack machines, and an off-ice area to put on skates and warm clothing. Skate rentals are not available at this Campus. Please make sure your skater arrives with their own skates.
Unfortunately, the Somerville Campus rinks no longer have ice available to The Skating Academy for the 2024-2025 season. As a result, beginning in the Fall, The Skating Academy will no longer be offering classes at the Somerville Campus.
To that end, The Skating Academy is excited to offer all former and current Somerville Campus students a one-time 20% discount when registering for classes at any campus. In the Fall we only offer classes at the Norwood Campus and in the Winter months classes are offered in the Boston Campus/Daly Rink, Fenway, Frog Pond, North End and West Roxbury.
For any questions regarding the discontinuation of classes at the Somerville Campus or to register for classes in another Skating Academy campus and receive the one-time 20% discount, please contact The Skating Academy at 617-787-5283 or by emailing info@skatingacademy.org.

- Registration will close five business days prior to the first class at each campus location.
- Classes will include 25-minutes of instructional time and 25-minutes of practice time. Please keep in mind that instruction and practice may be either during the first 25 minutes or the second 25 minutes which is determined by level.

Snowplow Sam
This is where it all begins! These classes are designed to help children six and younger develop the ABCs of movement – Agility, Balance, Coordination and speed. The ABCs are essential for developing fundamental movement skills and physical literacy. All classes will be taught in a safe and positive environment, incorporating fun and games making class time an enjoyable experience for all. Learn More
Basic Skills
Fun, goal-oriented program for beginners, children (age 4+) through adults. Skaters will receive Basic Skills instruction following the Learn to Skate USA curriculum endorsed by U.S. Figure Skating and USA Hockey. Basic Skills sessions offered: Snowplow Sam, Basic Skills, Pre-Free Skate through Free Skate 6, and Adults at all levels. Learn More
