The Skating Club of Boston is New England’s premier figure skating club, and home to a community of families, athletes and professionals united by their love of skating and a commitment to excellence in every aspect of the sport. Programs Offered

Basic Skills

Fun, goal-oriented program for beginners, children (age 6+) through adult. Skaters will receive Basic Skills instruction following U.S. Figure Skating and USA Hockey curriculum. Basic Skills sessions offered: Basic Skills 2-6, Pre-Free Skate through Free Skate 6 and Adult 2-6.

Hockey Skills

Program includes the fundamentals of hockey skating, teaching skaters how to be more proficient and agile on the ice. Proper skating technique is the primary focus and skaters will learn the basic hockey stance, stride, knee bend, and other necessary fundamentals to be successful.

Bridge

A fast-paced, accelerated program, focusing on proper stretching techniques, warm-up and cool down both on and off the ice, stroking, edges and power skating, introductory moves in the field, spins, jumps, and Artistry in Motion (beginning choreography and style). Students are evaluated and tested based on Learn To Skate USA’s Basic Skills curriculum. Skaters must have passed at least Basic 4 and up to Preliminary Free Skate to register for this program.

Therapeutic/Adaptive Skating

Adaptive/Therapeutic Skating is a unique program providing children and adults with disabilities access to the sport of figure skating by offering them an opportunity to participate in a specialized skating experience. The program director, instructors, volunteer coordinator, and volunteers, work closely with each skater and family to tailor their individual instructional needs.

Out of State/Travel Order Policy

Skaters from all the restricted states deemed by the Commonwealth have to provide negative PCR testing from within 72 hours of arrival at The Skating Academy’s lessons.
