What is First Steps?

Uniquely Designed for Children 3 to 5 Years Old

The Skating Academy is excited to be offering the all-new First Steps program! Uniquely designed for children that are ages 3 to 5 years old, the First Steps program introduces skating to young children in a fun group environment. Each skater will be able to build confidence in their on-ice capabilities, and in themselves, through fun activities and games in a positive environment. Skaters can progress at their own rate and advance after learning the required skills.

What are the benefits?

Ice skating is a life-long skill that improves balance, circulation, and strength. Skaters are properly taken through each step of learning how to skate as they cover all the introductory topics of how to fall down, how to get back up and how to properly tie skates before they even step onto the ice. Upon completion of the program, skaters can continue their on-ice journey by taking Basic Skills classes where skaters can begin to learn the specific points of skating for figure-skating and hockey-style skating.
