Michael PhaneufTherapeutic Skating Program Director

Michael returned to coaching in 2013 with The Skating Club of Boston Skating Academy. He has coached both at Skating Academy’s Frog Pond and Boston Campuses and is the Program Director for Therapeutic Skating, a program for skaters with disabilities. Michael choreographs for the Frog Pond Skating Spectacular and Ice Chips shows.

As a competitive ice dancer, Michael represented The Skating Club of Boston at the regional and sectional levels. He holds the Pre-Gold Pattern Dance and Junior Free Dance Tests. Michael has trained and tested in all disciplines of skating and coaches Basic Skills group lessons, private ice dance, free skate, moves in the field and program choreography lessons. He is a Registered Coach through the Professional Skating Association, and has completed both his Category A Certified Education Requirements and SafeSport Certificate.

He is a graduate of Babson College with a Master’s in Education from the University of Massachusetts, with a focus on Middle School Math and Special Education. He is currently a teacher in Boston Public Schools. Michael is a member of the PSA, has his Basic Accreditation, and is a Registered Basic Skills Coach with U.S. Figure Skating. His goal is to continuously grow as a coach while providing inclusive opportunities for skaters at all age levels and backgrounds to enjoy and build a successful skating career.
