Somerville Campus Manager
Kim Wheeland has been a figure skating coach for over 30 years. She began working with Skating Academy first as an instructor and now serves as the Campus Manager at the Somerville Campus. She looks forward to helping the program grow and instilling a lifelong love of skating in all who come through the door.
As an accomplished singles and pairs competitor, Kim passed her Senior Figures and Free Skating, Pre Gold level Dances and Novice Pairs. After retiring from competitive skating she went on to perform in professional shows all over the world and toured with local companies including Ice Theatre of New York and Boston.
Skating is her passion and as a coach she strives to instill hard work and dedication in her students to assist them in reaching their goals. She works with all levels of athletes and has coached many of her skaters from beginner through their Senior Levels and on to Regionals. Some of her most cherished moments are seeing a skater smile when they have that “light bulb” moment as the knowledge sinks in.
Kim believes it is important to give back to the sport that has given so much to her. She is an official with U.S. Figure Skating as a Technical Specialist and is also an examiner with the PSA.
